Planned Resistance: Retribution sequel ‘never got off the ground’

Sony Bend has revealed that the studio had a sequel to Resistance: Retribution in the pipeline prior to starting work on Uncharted: Golden Abyss.

That’s according to the developer’s John Garvin, who revealed that the follow-up to the PlayStation Portable Chimeric blaster just wasn’t to be.

“I had spent like six weeks writing up a complete outline and we had a demo for a [Resistance: Retribution] sequel and then that kind of never got off the ground,” Garvin told IGN.

Retribution was released back in 2009 for Sony’s slab, and takes place two months before the events of Resistance: Fall of Man. Here, players control Royal Marine James Grayson as he battles the Chimera across Europe, with locations including the likes of Paris, Rotterdam and Bonn.

Resistance: Burning Skies, a new handheld title for PlayStation Vita, is currently in development at Nihilistic Software.
