DICE says there is 'definitely a market' for Mirror's Edge 2

A potential follow-up to Mirror’s Edge could “reach a broader audience,” series developer DICE has said, and what’s more the firm believes there is definitely “a market” for a sequel.
Speaking during a Battlefield 3 event in London, DICE producer Patrick Liu told Spong he feels punters are ready to embrace a new Mirror’s Edge title, and acknowledged the parkour-fuelled actioner still boasts a significant fan following.
“I think it’s something that people are ready to get into again,” commented Liu. “We see that there’s a huge fan following, it’s almost like a cult! And we know what strengths we had, and what weaknesses we had in that game. If we were to release a new game, we’d know what to improve and how to reach a broader audience. So I definitely think there’s a market there.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time chatter on Mirror’s Edge 2 has popped up. Earlier this year, EA Games Label big cheese Frank Gibeau suggested the sequel may utilize the Frostbite 2 engine, while EA Games Vice President Patrick Soderlund said the firm was beavering away on something related to the franchise.
Mirror’s Edge originally released on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 back in 2008, attracting a luke warm reception from critics. Nonetheless, fans have been clamouring for a follow-up for some time now, though nothing has been officially confirmed as of yet.

Man, when I played the demo back then, I got a bad dizzy spell from the character running, and jumping all over the place. If I would have kept playing, I think it would have turned into a vomit spell for sure. I did like the concept, and how the game was built though, except the shaking of the screen. It also might just be me, because I do get migrains often.

It was a fantastic idea, it was just poorly implemented tbh.
But it will go down as the one game in history that moved gaming forward. All other games are starting to take the same idea with character movement, and implement similar features with their own.
By all means, make another Mirrors Edge, but please make a proper story, plot etc etc etc.
Make it BIG. Make puzzles to create a route. Make it more interactive (through solving puzzles and affecting the environment to create routes etc). Stealth should be a major element on this......think of MGS. You can sneak through the game or you can just be a bull in a china shop.
But another Mirrors Edge (if done well) would be more than welcome IMO.

As long as they keep out the headbobbing and such it'd be easy for people who get motionsickness to play. I mean As much Resistance and Modern Warefare as I've played and havent developed a problem with either game? There's gotta be a way to do it. They kinda had it right with the target dot, as long as you look direct ly at it while getting all acrobatic you dont get as much of the effect, but the problem is you miss the action going on.

Frost Bite 2 Engine + Mirrors Edge 1 mechanics + combat that goes together with the base mechanics more smoothly (make her a true ninja, etc) and they could have my money. Oh, and explosions, really they just need to make some big epic portions in addition the parkour puzzle areas that were just awesome in 1.

Mirror's Edge 2 would be great news.
For me it was one of THE best games I've played this generation.
It was totally something different.
I would LOVE to see a sequel.
And Fenix, you are not the only 1 who wasn't too big of a fan of the style of the cutscenes. :)
But that was pretty much the only thing. -

I love Mirror's Edge, and I'd love to see a follow-up game, as long as it's first-person (why would you want a Mirror's Edge game that wasn't?) and doesn't focus more on guns (I loved getting the Pacifist trophy). I'd also prefer they keep the flash-style cutscenes, but in-game graphics wouldn't be bad.
