Modern Warfare 3 to sell 16m in Q4 2011, says Pachter

Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has said he believes Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will sell twice as many copies as rival Battlefield 3 during the fourth quarter of 2011.
Speaking with Forbes, Pachter reckons Activision’s FPS juggernaut will flog 16 million units during Q4 2011, while Battlefield 3, published by Electronic Arts, will move eight million units.
Furthermore, the analyst believes both military shooters will generate over $1.4 billion in revenue during the three month period, accounting for 15 percent of total packaged software sales.
Pachter didn’t stop there however, predicting MW3 could move an additional eight million copies next year, with Battlefield 3 selling an extra three million units. He also reckons punters will likely purchase both games.
"I'd guess that around half of the console copies of Battlefield 3 will be bought by people who also buy Modern Warfare 3, so around two to three million will buy both," said Pachter. "I don't see much cannibalization of the titles."
Modern Warfare 3 is due out on November 8, while Battlefield 3 hits stores tomorrow in the U.S. and Friday in Europe.

I think it'll be more around 6m BF3 and 13-14m for COD:MW3. With so many great titles coming out this year, with large amounts of fans for each, I believe numbers will be down for CoD and BF3 will still have a strong kick.

I wont be getting either because CoD blows, and BF3 looks and plays just like BC2 so there is no point, if I want a good FPS I'll play something from either the Resistance & KILLZONE franchise, and I have DooM 3 and Killing Floor on my computer so I'm good. It is obvious however that MW3 will out sell BF3 by a landslide, they have bought that recycled garbage so many times they aren't smart enough to not do it. BF3 on the other hand, will always be better on computer and not consoles, like any F.P.S. has always been.
