Fumito Ueda, creator of Shadow of the Colossus, The Last Guardian, departs Sony

It seems as though recent rumors and speculation can be put to rest, as Gamasutra has reported that esteemed creator of first-party Sony titles such as Shadow of the Colossus, ICO, and the still-in-development The Last Guardian, Fumito Ueda, has officially left Sony.
Instead of continuously trying to cover up the rumors, Sony now confirmed that Udea-san will be working on a contract basis and is “committed to completing” The Last Guardian.
Given all of the delays The Last Guardian has seen in its development lifecycle, it’s not hard to piece together that something has been going a little wrong at Team ICO. We probably won’t find out what exactly made Fumito Ueda leave the team, but we’re sure he still cares about the IP enough to see it through.
What do you think of Ueda leaving Sony? Do you think that his absence may lead to The Last Guardian falling short of expectations when it is released sometime in 2012?

We all know he's really passionate about his work, but I wonder what would trigger him to leave?
Either way, I don't think we should give up all hope on Team ICO's ability to deliver just yet.

I think it's disrespectful to his fans who have waitied so long for the Latst Guardian for him to leave before it is complete.Eventhough he is still working on it,he will cause termoil amongst the rest of Team Eco employees.Jaffe and Barlog left Santi Monica after the games were complete.

I kind of lost interest in this game, it's taking way too long to get it out the door. With Ueda jumpin ship, and hardly any description of what the game is going to be all about, doesn't look good at all. We haven't even seen any gameplay...... YET! I hope it works out though.

So I wonder why this has all happened?
Is Ueda's personal life or health affecting his ability to remain in full control? Or is SONY pushing for something Ueda doesn't want = conflict, delays etc....
The answer to this will determine if Ueda is remaining to fullfil his contract, or remaining to complete something he created & loves. We can't say if any of this is good or bad tbh, simply because we have no idea what is really going on or how affected the final game would be either way.
We will see how things play out and Im still getting the game on release. I would be curious to find out if (when it is released) that the final game is what Ueda wanted, or if its something SONY pushed for....whether the effect is good or bad.
