PS3's rumored Cloud deal to offer PS2, PSOne titles?

GI is reporting that the rumored cloud gaming service deal between Sony and Gaikai will allow users to stream PlayStation 2 and PSOne content to their PlayStation 3.

Sources claim that the service will make available first-party games and will also give third-party developers the opportunity to sell their old titles to gamers via a streaming solution.

Of course, early adopters of PS3 will know that the console was originally backwards compatible with PS2 and PSOne software upon release. However, PS2 support was subsequently canned after the machine was redesigned under the 'PS3 Slim' branding.

Gaikai boasts an extensive line-up of PC titles available for its service, having partnered with the likes of Capcom, Electronic Arts and Ubisoft. Furthermore, the David Perry-fronted company has also extended its reach to retailers including GAME and Best Buy, plus services including YouTube and LG.

Sony’s deal with Gaikai is supposedly going to be announced during the hardware manufacturer’s E3 press conference on Monday.

It may work in the Uk as PSOne and 2 games are not that big maybe around 3-600mb for PSOne and around 2-5GB depending on PS2 but the download limit from some ISP's may bulkle the idea that and the fact you might as well buy off the Store what you can and buy the disc version off Ebay/Amazon a like so it may be pointless.

PS2 support was canned before the "slim" branding. I bought a 20gig launch system, a couple years later it gave me problems , so I got a replacement but thats when Sony first switched SKU's and they deaded backwards compatibility, probably a good year before the slim model came out. Not that it really matters, but it would probably be good to get your information correct especially considering this IS a Playstation oriented site.

If I can stream some of PC's top games and can also stream it to my Vita when out and about count me in. Other wise I have n need to stream PsONE games to my PS3 or Vita, and most of the PS2 games I would play I already have. But it would be nice to stream some of them PS2 games to my Vita.
