GRAND THEFT AUTO IV VS. JUST CAUSE 2

The Contenders:

Grand Theft Auto IV

Before Red Dead Redemption came along, Grand Theft Auto IV was the absolute pinnacle of sandbox gameplay. For many, it still is. The intoxicating blend of wreaking havoc in a beautifully-replicated New York City and the series' trademark humor was nothing less than gaming nirvana. However, some still maintain that much of the innocence and playful freedom of the series' PlayStation 2 installments was lost with a turn over to more mature storytelling. Whatever the case, it's hard to deny the indelible mark left by GTA IV, even if it DID debut as a multi-platform release.

Just Cause 2

The sequel to a PlayStation 2 classic that largely flew under the radar proved to be just as fresh and innovative as its predecessor. As such, Just Cause 2 has become something of a cult gem, revered by many for its outlandish grapple-gun stunts, huge selection of vehicles, and massive landscape that makes stunning use of verticality. Critics loved it, gamers loved it, and you won't find a more adrenaline-fueled open-world adventure anywhere on PS3.

Which of these two games deserves to move forward in our competition? Cast your votes in the official polling thread, and be sure to vote in all our match-ups to decide the Best PS3 Game Ever!
