Capcom announced during its pre-Gamescom event today that Dante’s brother Vergil will make an appearance in the forthcoming DmC: Devil May Cry.
Apparently, Vergil – who also appeared in the original Devil May Cry and Dante’s Awakening – recruits his brother into a group known as the Order to help him vanquish a demon lord enslaving mankind.
The brothers have been estranged since childhood, though Dante himself has no recollection his sibling. Unlike Capcom’s original Devil May Cry games, it seems Dante and Vergil will fight alongside each other in Ninja Theory’s reboot.
Capcom also showcased a trailer to illustrate this aspect of their relationship with the brothers teaming up in battle against the demon hordes. The pair are also seen bickering over the game’s female star, and it appears they have conflicting methods when it comes to going about their mission.
DmC: Devil May Cry is due out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in January 2013.
Stay tuned for more details as we get them.

It'd be interesting to see if Ninja Theory uses it as a way to show how the brother's begin to hate each other. Could make for a good story.

This game is a joke. Vergil isn't the same character. He would never side with humanity..."conflicting methodology" isn't nearly as much of a driving factor as one brother siding with demons and one siding with humanity. Hope this game flops, teach them not to muck with classics.
