Star Wars 1313 world is inspired by Las Vegas - LucasArts teases its underworld

Star Wars 1313 has left a lasting impression on us following the real-time gameplay demo from Gamescom this year. Graphically it wowed the audience with its detailed realization of Corusant, the capital of the Republic, while Lucas Arts Creative Director Domnic Robilliard gave us a tantalizing insight into its game world

"This is a matured-themed game," said Dominic. "Players will descend into a dangerous subterranean metropolis full of dark characters. We've taken the Vegas approach to a Star Wars city. It feels like a character in its own right and bears down on the player. It's not somewhere you'd like to find yourself on a Friday night. It's a world where crime families exist and thrive, a dark and dangerous location.

During the presentation we didn't get to see this dangerous underworld which dwells underneath Coruscant, but the live gameplay demo teases us when one of the main characters says: "it gets a lot dirtier where we're heading."

Star Wars 1313 is still in pre-production phase so it's going to be a while before we see the underworld in all its glory. But if it looks half as good as Coruscant does in a scene where a spacecraft flies over the highly detailed city, then Star Wars fans are in for a real treat.

Right now it remains unknown as to what platforms the game will be released on, but given the quality of the visuals on display we wouldn’t be surprised if it turned up on next-generation systems. We’re also fairly sure the game was being demoed with a DualShock 3 pad, though that’s just speculation on our part.

Stay tuned to PSU.com for more details as we get them.
