David Cage wants you to only play Beyond: Two Souls once

Quantic Dream CEO David Cage has no lack of creative thinking - his 2009 project Heavy Rain is widely regarded as a superb interactive drama and upcoming title Beyond: Two Souls seems ready to bear the same torch. He's also got an interesting idea for how you should play Beyond.
Speaking with Modern X Games, Cage described his wish that players only experience Beyond: Two Souls a single time, and not replay it or reload saves to change their decisions. "Play it once and do not play it again!" he said. "You can play again if you want, but I think the best way to enjoy the game is to make choices and never know what would have happened." Cage feels that because Beyond is the tale of Jodie Holmes' life (and her life is in the player's hands), players should abide by the rules of life and accept tragedy or success as its dealt to them.
Cage also took time to wax philosophic about the meaning of death, pondering whether death would exist without religion to give it context, "without God sitting in the clouds".
We'll have to wait until 2013 to find out what he means, and what impact it will have on the game. But color us excited; Heavy Rain was/is a fantastic experience that comes highly-recommended to every PS3 owner, and Cage seems to be approaching Beyond with a similar eye for immersion and storytelling that makes us feel.
Keep it locked on PSU.com for more on Beyond: Two Souls in the coming months, and let us know in the comments if you're going to listen to Cage and only play it once.

@Joe Zombie I know, right? It's idiotic to think I won't play through the game over and over again if I pay full price for it. I'd never pay $60 for a game I can't play through over and over, or at least get a hundred or so hours out of. I purchased Silent Hill: Shattered Memories early, played through it seven or eight times in my first week. That was one of the most wonderful gaming experiences I've ever had. This guy, though? Yeah, his pretentiousness reminds me of Peter Molyneux, but at least this guy can do what he claims he'll do.

@1 and 2 Yeah because if a game developer tells you to only play the game one time after you buy it, his word must be followed by all means or he'll find you and have someone break your kneecaps or if you're lucky he'll settle for a lawsuit. The game better be twenty dollars? Um how about you just replay the game if you bought it new if you feel like replaying the game. Or just buy it used and play it one time. Idiots.
On a more serious note, it never ceases to amaze me how Sony lets this guy get by making these types of games. Yes, Sony is very open to artistic direction, but Cage's game is artistic, has no online multiplayer components, and he encourages you to disregard the replay value of his games in order to preserve the artistry. In other words, the guy probably only uses the money he makes on these games as toilet paper. Hopefully Sony continues to let this man do whatever he wants. He is just too epic.

@5 You commented yourself. Anyway if you read properly I wasnt advocating multiplayer components in games. I was saying that lately everything has taken a turn to it. Sony has even cancelled games that didnt adhere to that model (Eight Days, Getaway 3) and pushed normally single player games to get multiplayer (Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, God of War etc). I was just shocked that they haven't forced Quantum Dream to do anything like that yet and are still supporting them. Which is a good thing.
