Kojima explains Ground Zeroes title; vaguely

The fresh title Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes has been the subject of attention this weekend, but the title has left us a bit confused. Luckily, Hideo Kojima himself helped explain it.
Vaguely, I mean. On his official Twitter page, Kojima-san said,
"The title name is 'MGS Ground Zeroes', not 'Zero'. It is plural. There's not only one hypocenter."
It's still up for grabs what this could still mean, since the official gameplay trailer showed us a great deal of content. We have an idea here at PSU towers, and it may be interlaced with the genesis of Solid and Liquid Snake, and how Major Zero managed to get Big Boss' DNA. Still, it's up for speculation, and I know that we have a very avid MGS fanbase here on PSU, so let us know what you think may be meant by "Ground Zeroes."

someone said the guy with the hat is psycho mantis, and i9m still confused if its snake or raiden in the cage, or even liquid, cuz the kid takes the head phone jack out of his chest, so im assuming its raiden for now in the cage.

Hmmm @1, you make an interesting notion. I never thought of Raiden being around the same age as Snake. Solidus mentioned that Raiden was a child soldier in the 80's, so I'm sure he wasn't much older than 8, considering his forgetful self receeded the memories. If that's the case, then Ground Zeroes will take place in the very late 80's, maybe 7-9 years before Snake infiltrated Outer Heaven. Which would mean that he was part of the Green Berets, and he could be working for Big Boss in this one. Hmmmm...

Raiden? Common now.
Raiden was known as Jack the Ripper during his child-soldier days. Not "Awkward kid in a cage with a headphone jack in his chest".

The title pretty obviously referrs to character and story origins. The character is Naked Snake/ Big boss clearly, just read the subtitles, they talk about events and characters that link closer to Peace walker than anything else. Not to mention he clearly looks way to old to be Solid Snake.
Anyway Ground Zeroes probably touchses on the beginings and ties it all together for the present day story line. Where all the characters came from how they relate to other characters and other elements of the MGS universe.

@3 Chico was mentioned, as well as Paz, in the trailer, but it wasn't confirmed that the boy was Chico. Besides, Chico has brown hair and the boy in the cage had blonde hair. I will agree that the boy definitely looks too old to be 7 years old, so it must not be Raiden.

It is clearly Big Boss, He has an eye patch (not solid eye) and an MSF logo on his arm. my 1st thought is that maybe the boy was Raiden but its too early to Be a young Jack the Ripper. He was under the comand of Solidus and at this point les enfant terible doesnt appear to have happened. The subititles also refer to Chico so this is more likely. The man in the hat looks a lot like Volgin also
