Paul W. S. Anderson, producer of Resident Evil: Retribution, announced his involvement in the genesis of a Monster Hunter movie.
Asked by Cinema Today, Anderson said:
"Recently, I've been loving Monster Hunter! A film conversion is currently in planning."
Certainty on who's in charge of the portential title is still a mystery; it could be Paul Anderson himself, or it could be Capcom. Regardless, if this really is true, does a game based on hunting monsters really work as a movie idea? What sort of plotting would have to take place in order to make it work?

If they get the aesthetics right and the big giant dinosaur-like monster along with a story of a rooky hunter becoming the best or what ever I'll probably end up watching it.

It would be nice if they'd quit snubbing the ps3. Throw us a full ps3 game instead of portables only.

This is the guy responsible for the Resident Evil movies. It's going to end up being a story about Mila Jovovich hunting dinosaurs in New York...actually she's practically wearing the Dino Crisis outfit in the trailers for the new RE movie, so maybe... ugh now I'm thinking it'll just be Dino crisis mixed with monster hunter and have no resemblance to any of the franchises.

Great, another much-loved franchise for Anderson to ruin beyond recognition.
