The playable demo of FIFA 13 has been downloaded by a whopping 1.99 million gamers across 73 countries, publisher Electronic Arts has announced.

The figure was achieved just three days after the teaser was made available for download via PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE, marking a 29 per cent rise over the same period for FIFA 12’s demo.

With a fortnight until the full game launches, pre-orders for the hotly-anticipated footie sim have already topped the 875,000 mark. This is up on last year’s offering by 37 per cent in Europe and 62 per cent in North America.

FIFA 13 introduces a slew of new gameplay features, such as First Touch Control, offering unprecedented control over the ball and ensuring no two matches ever play out the same. FIFA 13 will be release for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, PC and Xbox 360 in Europe on September 25 and in the U.S. on September 27.

Why? So people can see how exactly the same it's going to be as FIFA 12? If people want to see what a new instalment's gonna play like, just play any other previous FIFA title!
