PS3 update 4.25 sparks complaints - have you had problems ever since?

The recent PS3 update v4.25 has apparently caused a host of issues among some users, including problems with internet connectivity. The forums over at the official PlayStation website currently has a number of complaints from PS3 owners that span a variety of issues.
The main feature of the PS3 4.25 update was the increase of PlayStation Cloud storage from 150 megabytes to a full gigabyte, but it looks like some users may have got much more than they bargained for.
One poster by the name of Cannon Fodder claims that his controllers haven’t worked since the update and he’s only been able to turn off the console by unplugging it completely.
JJCHAOS28 writes: “I have a 320gb slim model and ever since the update my PS3 won't even read my games. It plays my CD's, DVD's, let's me on the internet & let's me sign in but IT DOESN'T EVEN READ MY GAMES! What's going on? Did the update break my PS3?
inwaytoodeep0690 claims: “i have 2 slim models in my home one for me and one for my son . i updated from whatever version to 4.25 on both now i cant connect or stay connected to playstation network or play games online.”
Not all users have been affected as some forum posters say they’ve had no problems at all since the update, but there’s clearly an issue with some consoles as the complaints span over nine pages.
We’ve asked Sony to respond so we’ll keep you updated and hopefully they'll be fix for some of the problems shortly. Let us know if you’ve had any issues.

No this is not a bad internet connection. Bad internet connection will effect other devices as well. The problems for me started with the update itself. Downloads 97% and freezes, finnally after 5 hours the download finished and then I had trouble logging into PSN until the 7th attempt. Then the network ran slow. Meawhile I was able to watch netflix on my laptop with no issues. My PS3 is less than a year old. This one reason I will never buy PSN plus or even purchase anything through the network. How is it that a subsidiary like Polyphony Dgital(Gran Turismo series) can acknowledge and fix issue stemming from an update but Sony Playstation plays it off?

sony sort this out i cant play any of my games it wont read my discs and its corrupted all my data !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so annoying

Im so sorry to hear that sony have broken ur ps3 i was on 4.20 but the i bought tekken tag tournament 2 it ask me 2 copy the 4.21 from the disc i really wanna sign in to the psn but im scared of download the 4.25 some people haven't had any problems so its 50/50 im thinking of waiting for the next update anyways im really sorry about ur ps3 i hope sony repair them 4 free Respect to all the gamers o yes can anyone tell me when u play tekken tt2 it takes soooooo long to load up one match it like over 1 minutes of waiting i no it takes over 7000MB/7GB that a lot i thinking my ps3 is slow maybe the new patch will speed it up i have to try it soon Respect @_@

my ps3 have delays on the controller. doesn't matter which controller there's like 1 second delay and that's a very big deal.... any idea when this will be fixed?

I still have the 4.20 software version. I got the YLOD a few months ago and recently sent my PS3 out for repair. Now that I've just got it back I don't know if I should take this upgrade. But the only thing that suck about that is I can't play Madden NFL '13 without taking the update. I mean WTF?!? I also need to upgrade my hard drive as my original 60GB isn't enough. I also here this update make upgrading your hard drive a pain too. I seriously don't need anymore problems with this thing.

I have an original model, and have had increases in lagging and freezing. I'm playing New Vegas again, and I know some of the issues are with the game, but the number of times I'd had to reset while playing it has quadrupled since the update. Now I can't play for even 15 minutes without having to quit the game or reboot the system.

Mine freezes well fighting biker guy on double dragon neon ..if I do the dragon skill over n over when he is super flashing ..I just assume it is game related! Probably just people jeleous of plus users or causing there own heat issues by non stop use..I know the slim ones always have heat and dust issues ..new ones will probably be no exception especially if the disc goes in the top left as stated by sony! Milking the cash cow till ps4 comes out in probably a year or 2

My ps3 totally died. I cannot tell you pi**ed I am. I now get the ylod, and it started happening during the install of the patch. I have the original 60gb version, upgraded with a 160gb. I already paid $600 when I first bought it, then another $ 150 when it would no longer read discs... and Sony repaired it. I checked the hard drive, and it is empty. All save games are lost. Even the 140 hours of Skyrim. Sony needs to make this right !!! I am thinking free repair, and like a year free of plus so saves get backed up.

everything works fine on my ps3 except my games it lets me play for about 5-10 minutes than it freezes, if anybody knows how to fix it or know what the problem is can someone respond, thanks.

my map packs stopped working prpoerly so i took off the system data for mag redownloaded it but now it wont install. also when i quit a game its like i shut the system off controller shuts down. also when i sign in all of my contactcts dont show up anymore most of the time i believe sony crashed my system i even trid a second harddrive that i had from my original but i still get all the same stuff wrong with it all

Glad I found this wee oasis and it's not only me that's having problems.
Logged on this morning and put in Rocksmith, brand new, played like a dream. Ps3 told me update 4.25 ready to download. Did so and now unable to play games. What the hells going on. 80010514 error. This would appear to be a software error, so come along Mr Sony fix this.

Finished watching Alien, went to watch Aliens, wouldn't play, so updated firmware to 4.25, no change. Searched online and setting allow online to confirm fixed it and I watched the movie all the way through. Last night I put Alien3 in and nothing...seeks for 10 seconds then does the half eject. Did a restore, DVD recalibrate, cache clear and disabled 24hz to no avail. This is the slim about three years old but not used heavily. Now the only blu-rays that will read are Alien and Aliens, half dozen others are no go, no games load either (skyrim, Simpsons, etc...) DVDs work. This is pretty effed up... I don't see how this could be a hardware issue... I guess I got a doorstop until Sony fixes their sh1t!

2 Hard resets to make ps3 work again from freezed screen and after restartying not doing anything at all during gameplay internet wireless card switched off and freezes everything and after reastarting wireless controllers and and wireless internet do not connect well ask for it and it only gives you ultimate nightmares

GOT MY PS3 to WORK!!!! Ok I been having the same issues with the Update for like weeks and Finally I got it to work. I tried everything to download off the net and even a full restore and tried every way you can think of and it always stopped at 99% from the USB and 46% thru online and it would play anything or go online. So the last thing I did was Downloaded the Update thru the Playstation Web Site just like it said to a USB stick then I Started it thru Safe Mode with the USB Stick already in it Slot. Then I did the Upload from the Stick in Safe Mode followed the screen through and it Worked it now plays games goes Online and update my games._
