Mass Effect 1 coming to PS3

Electronic Arts has confirmed that the original Mass Effect is coming to PlayStation 3, as both a standalone release on PlayStation Network and as part of the Mass Effect Trilogy.
This is interesting because the original game was published by Microsoft on the Xbox 360 prior to BioWare being acquired by EA, and as such was said to be the reason why it hasn't appeared on PS3 until now. Instead, the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 contained a digital comic which played out the events of the first game and let players make choices which affected the outcome.
The Mass Effect Trilogy releases on 360 and PC in November but no date was given for the PS3 version, presumably because EA are busy porting the first game to Sony's flagship console.

Here's hoping for a solid port. I'd be interested in returning to finish ME1 if they fix the framerate problems and glitches that plagued the PC and 360 versions, but a shoddy port won't earn any of my money. Still, kudos on BioWare/EA/whoever made this happen - it's a nice move, and better late than never.

One 360 game I've always wanted to experience. If a Microsoft published game can come to the PS3, I'd prefer Lost Odyssey over ME, though :O

I never had any glitch or frame rate issues with ME1. But the elevator loading was a nightmare.

They would have to release a patch for ME2 as well so that you can import your ME1 game save

Awesome for PS3 owners and fans of the Mass Effect games, but I would only be interested if it came with trophies.

Obviously it'll have trophies, it's not a PS2 Classic or anything so why wouldn't it?

@DigitalBeast
Calm yourself if the situation is that dire for you there is always the playstation forums so you can read exclusively PS stories.
As for Mass Effect I'm not sure I want to jump back in that series considering ME3 was so terrible (MY OPINION don't get your panties in a wad folks) since it was pretty gung ho on making ME1 irrelevant.
I'll consider it if it'st fixes the problem in the original game and improves the texture quality (Garrus's Face looked pretty weak) -

@ DigitalBeast: Every time I see you comment on a topic it's either to tell someone else how they are wrong or to tell PSU how they are wrong. If you can't stand this site I have no idea why you even bother to check it out or even post comments.

I'm not one to side with people that over post their feelings the way he has, but DigitalBeast has a point in this case, you dont see xbox sites talking about how a game is also coming out on PSN. If PSU wants to be a multiplatform site like Joystiq, then they should just rebrand as one and not try to give the impression that it's a site for Playstation exclusive news and information. It's like patting an enemy on the back while they kick you in the nuts.
