Capcom responds to on-disc DLC in Resident Evil 6

It was recently found that the disc version of Resident Evil 6 already houses some downloadable content, but Capcom looks to be sticking to its guns on including the content in this manner.

Capcom spoke with Eurogamer this afternoon about this, and the undisclosed spokesman essentially said that one particular piece of DLC requires downloaded content and on-disc content to function properly:

"We still have unannounced DLC for RE6 that will be revealed in the coming months and while virtually all such content will not be on the disc there will be one piece of content, that for technical reasons, requires the use of a combination of newly downloaded data and data that is included on the retail game disc."

It's also speculated that this content could be a difficulty higher than Professional, which is the hardest difficulty at present, which would be called No Hope. This hasn't been confirmed yet, but the speculation comes from a user video where he's modded his game in order to access the content that's on the disc. Below, we've included a user video showing off the new difficulty.

It may be one thing to have DLC planned in the future, but it's another thing to include the DLC on-disc and then have a payment required in order to access that content. On the other hand, a new difficulty mode has a lot of specifics that may indeed require content on the disc in order to integrate. Developers can say what they will on the matter, but the people who are affected are those who buy the games. Let us know what you think about this topic. Does it get to you that this content could have been released with the game? Is Capcom's actions justified?
