Resident Evil 6 helps drive Capcom's net profits

Capcom’s dramatic-horror sequel Resident Evil 6 has shipped approximately 3.7 million copies worldwide since its launch earlier this month.

The globe-trotting zombie shooter helped push net profits for Capcom up 355.1 per cent for the first half of its financial year, with revenues up 50 per cent.

Net sales for the six-month period ended September 30 reached 45.5 yen billion ($570 million), marking an increase of 55.7 per cent over the same period last year. As mentioned net profits were also up year-on-year, totalling 4.1 billion yen ($51 million).

In addition to a solid performance from Resident Evil 6, Dragon’s Dogma also pulled in the punters with one million units sold, while Resident Evil: Outbreak Survive has now drummed up two million registered users.

Capcom’s Digital Contents business, of which includes all console, PC, mobile and social game content, generated 35 billion yen in revenue ($438 million) recording a year-on-year increase of 69.1 per cent.
