Treyarch removes Nuketown 2025 from Black Ops II multiplayer rotation

Treyarch today officially took down the pre-order multiplayer map Nuketown 2025 from the multiplayer map rotation in Call of Duty: Black Ops II.

David Vonderhaar, game design director at Treyarch, released the news on his official Twitter page that the pre-order map will be taken down now that the "Double XP weekend" is now over. He was quoted saying:

"Double XP weekend is official over. That means Nuketown 2025 / 24-7 is as well. I know. RIGHT? Don't kill the messenger."

Whether this was a planned change or an executive decision is still unknown. The gaming industry has had plenty of issues in regards to downloadable content and add-ons, but having that content taken away is a new scenario. According to Vonderhaar, however, it may not be entirely permanent. He replied to a user question about Nuketown 2025 being avaiable in regular playlists, to which he replied:

"Yeah. Probably eventually. We are talking that over internally."

The fact that downloadable content for a game, even though it was included in the regular retail price, can be taken away so easily is a bit endearing. Regardless of intentions, this is certainly going to turn a few heads, and Treyarch will more than likely have to deal with backlash from players.

ok, so promote a map, make it a bonus for pre-ordering, then take it away after a week WITHOUT notice of any kind to anyone. It doesnt say anywhere that it is a limited time deal. as far as im concerned i payed for a map that was part of the game and they took one of my maps away, so, they should be issuing a mass partial refund to everyone for taking part of the game away. Shady/unfair business if you ask me.

Why did they take it down? was it damaged or incomplete... did it promote some sort of boosting? i don't play call of duty but the story is intriguing. so, why did they take it down?

Most likely for the above statement. It is a bliss of a level for boosting and not even in the cheating way. You could level up tremendously. My only gripe with the level is the inconsistency of the spawn points but what can you say when the map is so damn tiny.

So I paid extra for zombies 2025, what a joke this company must be. I for one will not be buying any DLC or any future cod game. after all the 100s of millions they have earned misleading us they think they can do what they like. This WILL come back and bite them on their rears, a lot of players I've heard in game saying this game is a waste of time know what they are talking about. This is the beginning of the down fall for cod imo. I look forward to seeing this back lash and the out come and hope activision and treyarch pay heavily for the most idiotic dession in their history. F u both, greedy c**ts.

That is crap. If they advertise it map for a limited time thats fine. But suddenly pulling with no reason? If it promoted bootsting then say so, but no explenation is not cool.

so I've bought a £65 game that i could of had for £45 just for nuketown and theyve gone and removed it. this i had noticed on the monday so in all fairness I've spent an extra £15 for 1 zombies map that we have been told they will be releasing in the season pass so they want me and others to pay £30 for a map that i already SHOULD and HAVE HAD. SO not only have IW removed Favela but Treyarch have now removed nuketown, seems that Activision want to go bust by annoying all of the customers.
