Injustice: Gods Among Us trailer outlines plot, reveals new characters

The story of Injustice: Gods Among Us will be told in various chapters jumping between the future and the past. In the game's intro cinematic, you'll see a distraught Joker at the mercy of Superman. The clown laughs at his success, killing not only Lois Lane, but Superman's unborn son. Batman attempts to calm him, but he fails and Superman kills the Joker by punching through his chest.

This causes conflict in the Justice League between non-Earth heroes like Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and Hawkgirl believing Earth is no longer capable of self-rule and that they must preserve order and Earth-born heroes like Batman, The Flash, Cyborg and Green Arrow. Lex Luthor seems to be behind it all, tricking the League and allowing Joker to take the fall.

The villains will also be taking sides with Harley Quinn and Lex Luthor, oddly siding with Batman.

The game's story is split into chapters where the player will take control of one character for the duration of a chapter. Players will control Batman in the first chapter. Players will experience epic battles with fights transitioning into cut scenes and combat mini games.

New arenas confirmed to be joining Bat Cave and Fortress of Solitude include Justice Leagues's Watchtower, Metropolis's Gotham City Lex Corp, Arkham Asylum and Wonder Woman's home planet Themyscira. From the trailer Hawkgirl looks set to join the roster as well as two mystery fighters, one resembling Sinestro and the other Deadshot or Lobo.
