The hotly-anticipated Tomb Raider reboot has now gone gold, developer Crystal Dynamics has confirmed.
“It's been a long journey, and it feels like we've been on this one together," wrote studio boss, Darrell Gallagher on Facebook. "Thank you for your continued enthusiasm and support since we first revealed our new vision for Tomb Raider to the world.
"I am very happy to let you know that we are into the final stretch of what has been an exciting and challenging adventure for the last few years.”
"And now it's time to get the game into your hands. We sincerely hope you enjoy it. We think you will, we are immensely proud of this game.”
"We've put everything into this game, and I'm certain we've created something that explores Tomb Raider's history while pushing the limits in interactive storytelling and design."
Tomb Raider sees a young, inexperienced Lara Croft shipwrecked on a mysterious Island where she is forced to survive against a group of malevolent mercenaries.
Along the way, players will be able to explore the Island to gather precious resources, as well as taking part in challenge tombs and various side quests. Multiplayer will also be present, which sees survivors and scavengers duking it out across five maps.
Tomb Raider is due out on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 on March 5.----
