As the days count down to the reveal of PlayStation 4 on February 20, Sony is looking back at its gaming history in a video series dubbed "Evolution of PlayStation." Last night, we were given a look at the marketing and release of the original PlayStation. Today, Sony treats us to a history lesson on PlayStation 2.
The video, shown below, is featured alongside the first release on the official PlayStation Meeting teaser site. We expect that videos documenting the history of PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita will debut on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, respectively. Each one will bring us closer to Wednesday, when PlayStation 4 will be unveiled to the world.

The PS2 was the first, and only console I stood in line for at a console launch. I finally got mine in my hands at 1:30 in the morning lol, and I had to go to work at 6:00a.m. Needless to say, I was late for work!! It was the best console I ever played, and owned. =)

For the PS2, it was GT3 and Socom2 that had the greatest impact on my gaming life. Although the standards for me in racing games was set by GT1 (which progressed properly to this day), Socom2 set the standards for me for online shooters Also for offline to a point). Something that has failed miserably this generation & the franchise itself going to oblivion.
The Final Fantasy series was progressing in a good way, albeit there was always a wish for a continuation to FF7.
It was all in the variety of the games, whihc has somewhat lessened this gen. Where are the tactical shooters? You know...they type that Socom once catered to to a degree?
In short, the PS2 offered gaming for everyone, while this generation offers visual fluff IMO.
