Gamers will certainly welcome the news of a new independent Melbourne-based studio that has burst into action, founded by former veterans from Crystal Dynamics, Criterion, Atari and Visceral.

Space Dust Studios with the tagline of "Veteran Developers Gone Rogue" will be looking to focus on creating brand new triple-A titles. And, while platforms have yet to be confirmed, one can hope the PlayStation 4 could have some new stellar games heading its way via Space Dust.

The main part of the team is made up from five senior developers including ex-Visceral Australia art director Nathan Brown, and with the current concept artwork on display on the website, interest is surely to start springing up fast.

The core team of developers have collectively around 50 years of experience under their belt, ready to use at their disposal for the upcoming major title. Currently the studio is pushing for the Australian Interactive Games Fund to include pre-production funding so that the new studio can steam ahead with its project.
