Yoshida: Sony needs to ensure players 'consider the PS4 version to be the best' for multiplatform games

With many games and franchises going platform agnostic nowadays, the PlayStation 4 not only needs to support third-party developers but convince gamers to choose the console for multiplatform games. In a recent interview with Japanese site 4Gamer.net, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida emphasized Sony's commitment to swaying consumers to buy third-party games for the PS4.
“In that case,” Yoshida explained, “we need to make sure users consider the PS4 version to be the best and the one they want to play. That might mean that the graphics are better, the controller is more comfortable, or the point I mentioned earlier about the console being more user-friendly, like you don’t have to turn the power on and off or you can switch between your game and Netflix at will. Those things will become key.”
With the amount of horsepower behind the console, the PS4 could potentially end up with the smoothest running or best looking console version of multiplatform titles. Unique features, like Watch Dogs PS4 version's ability to continue a game on your mobile device, could be an influence on gamers' decisions as well. Looks like Sony may have learned their lesson after the PS3 suffered from a number of inferior versions of third-party titles.
