As uncovered by our friends over at PlayStation Lifestyle, Sony could be planning some very interesting features for the PlayStation 4.
Sony Computer Entertainment America trademarked “Bid for Greatness,” on June 7, 2013, only a few days before its E3 press conference. The trademark refers to a reward program and auction system involving virtual assets and trophies.
Here’s the filing..
“Arranging and conducting auctions in the field of computer games, virtual game assets and trophies; Arranging and conducting incentive reward programs to promote the sale of computer games, virtual game assets and trophies; Auction services; Providing consumer information in the field of computer games and video games”.
Though the concept won't necessarily come to fruition, it looks like the feature could work in a similar way to Club Nintendo, where players are rewarded with coins for activity on Nintendo platforms such as downloading games. Players can then use those coins to redeem rewards ranging from screensavers to t-shirts. Sony, it seems, would push the concept even further allowing players to auction items.----
