Coca-Cola branded PlayStation All-Stars Island launches for casual audience but we wanted hardcore Battle Royale DLC
Released in November 2012, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale still has a healthy following with a thriving community who were hoping for more downloadable content from Sony this year.
That dream was shattered earlier this month when we discovered that Sony has no plans to release further content despite the demand and the fact that it had a number of characters, art and environments in the making that didn’t make the final game.
Today, however, we find out that it’s probably because Sony has been too busy planning something else with the franchise as it now reaches out to the casual gaming audience with a Coca-Cola branded (urgh) Android and iOS free-to-play game called PlayStation All-Stars Island. That’s right…Nathan Drake, Cole McGrath and other core gaming PlayStation characters have been unleashed onto mobile.
If you’re a fan of product placement, go check it out. To say we’re disappointed that such a promising franchise aimed at the core gaming audience has sold out to mobile is an under-statement.
