The planned movie adaptation of Assassin’s Creed is in the process of undergoing a rewrite by Academy Award nominated screenwriter, Scott Frank.
The Wolverine and Minority Report scribe has been tasked with reworking an earlier script penned by Michael Lesslie, a British playwright who was brought on board a few months back.
“I’m rewriting Assassin’s Creed right now, and what I love about it is that I’ve never adapted a video game before and it has its own set of challenges,” said Frank. “Especially in the world of re-writes, I love trying to do something completely different if I can.”
Based on Ubisoft’s 55 million-selling stealth-action franchise, Assassin’s Creed is being produced by 20th Century Fox and New Regency, with plans to release in cinemas on June 19, 2015.
Michael Fassbender will be starring in the film and is also attached to produce the flick. Filming is scheduled to begin later this year and will be shot in 3D.
