PS4 Shadow of the Eternals looks unlikely as Kickstarter deadline looms with lack of funds

The future of PlayStation 4 and Wii U project Shadow of the Eternals is looking decidedly bleak as the Kickstarter-funded title rapidly approaches its deadline with a distinct lack of funds.
Precursor Games is asking for $750,000 to get the game, a spiritual successor to the GameCube classic Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem, off the ground. However, with four days left until the deadline, the project has only amassed $277,000.
If successful, Shadow of the Eternals will start multiple protagonists and feature many elements from Eternal Darkness, chief among which includes the Sanity system.
Eternal Darkness was released on GameCube back in 2002, and won plaudits for its innovative Sanity gameplay and moody atmosphere. For the uninitiated, the player character would gradually lose his or her grip on reality by encountering various creatures, leading to all manner of disturbing effects.
For example, one Sanity effect may see your character gradually lose their limbs, or find themselves walking on the ceiling. Things also extended beyond the fourth wall too, with the game pretending to corrupt save data or turn the volume of your TV down.
While nothing is for certain, it seems highly unlikely Shadow of the Eternals will reach its Kickstarter goal this week. As such, Precursor Games is likely to search for funding elsewhere.
