Sony relationship with EA is 'very good' despite Xbox One exclusives

EA Games Label president Frank Gibeau has played down suggestions that the publishing giant’s relationship with Sony is faltering in light of a slew of Xbox One announcements at Gamescom.
Microsoft’s next-generation console will receive a free digital copy of FIFA 14 at launch, and EA also has Titanfall lined up as an exclusive. If that wasn’t enough, Xbox One will also receive time-exclusive DLC for Battlefield 4 and unique extras for FIFA 14.
Despite this, Gibeau assured the company’s relationship with Sony is “very good,” and still remains platform-agnostic.
“We’re changing nothing in our policy about being platform-agnostic,” he told CVG. “One of the things that struck me this week is how a tactical deal with one of our platform partners has been blown out and perceived as strategic tilt – that’s a messaging error on our part. There is no strategic tilt.
“The Sony platform and the Xbox platform are both very important to us. If you look at the previous generation we did tactical deals with both Sony and Microsoft throughout the cycle. Titanfall is different, it’s an EA Partners game – everything else is platform agnostic.”
The executive also didn’t rule out the possibility of future exclusives with PS4:
“It’s a long cycle, and certainly there’s potential with Sony exclusivity deals too.”
Battlefield 4 will launch alongside PS4 in the U.S. on November 15 and in Europe on November 29.
