Diablo III: Reaper of Souls' current console debut remains unknown

Josh Mosqueira, Diablo 3 game designer, told Polygon that the recently announced expansion Reaper of Souls is up in the air for current-gen consoles.
During the interview, Mosqueira takes into account the practice that the development team undertakes when creating new content: Our philosophy has always been we work on one project at a time. We've got Diablo 3 on PC, we released it and then a small team splintered off to work on Diablo for the current consoles. Now the team's really focused on Reaper of Souls for PC. So if you look at the past, you can probably infer what the future might bring. We don't have any announcements at this point."
Clearly, the Diablo team at Blizzard Entertainment is dedicated to ensuring that each project is completed to the best of their abilities, but console gamers, and console developers as well, are used to having games and add-ons generally releasing at the same time for all related gaming hardware. A potential release date is even hard to estimate, considering that the console release is landing September 3. With the official announcement of Diablo 3 coming to consoles was officially declared early 2012 and the release date over a year later, console gamers may have to wait a substantial time before Reaper of Souls is converted over to console form. The expansion certainly isn't a completely new game, so the amount of content that will be added doesn't come close to creating a new game, which reasonably means that regenerating Reaper of Souls wouldn't take anywhere near as long; however, since the PlayStation 4 launches in November, it's very likely that Diablo 3's first expansion will bypass the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and go straight to next-gen consoles.
Diablo 3 is hitting the PS3 and Xbox 360 September 3; once more information on Reaper of Souls' hopeful console release becomes official, we will keep you posted.
