GTA V makes $800 million in one day, is the fastest-selling game of all time

In its first day of sales, Grand Theft Auto V earned $800 million, breaking the all-time record for first-day sales and moving closer to $1 billion faster than any other game.

The previous record holder, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, generated about $500 million in its first day of release. It took 15 days for Black Ops II to reach $1 billion--GTA V has a massive headstart, and may hit $1 billion by week's end.

Remember the days when Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV made headlines with $180 and $310 million day-one takes? Times have changed, games are bigger business than ever, and it's safe to say you're going to be hearing about GTA V for a long, long time.
