Mark Cerny revealed to be PS Vita's lead architect

Mark Cerny this week revealed to Eurogamer that he was the lead architect on the PlayStation Vita, which is the role that he has occupied for the development of the PlayStation 4.

Eurogamer asked him directly whether he was lead architect, to which Cerny replied with a clear "Yes."

Comments made to Eurogamer at Gamescom by Shuhei Yoshida, head of Sony Worldwide Studios, underplayed Cerny's role in the PS Vita's creation. Yoshida said that Cerny wasn't referred to as a "chief system architect," but that he was "heavily involved in the development of the Vita".

Eurogamer's recent chat with Cerny also revealed that both he and Yoshida pitched Remote Play for the PS Vita, coincidentally on the same day.

Mark Cerny's profile has increased massively in the past year since he was announced as the PS4's lead architect. However, he has played an important part in PlayStation's history, having worked with teams such as Naughty Dog and Insomniac Games. Our very own Kyle Prahl is an avid fan of his.

Cerny is the director of upcoming video game Knack, which is due for release this November in Europe and North America, and it's exclusive to PS4.

Do you have views on Cerny's work? Are you looking forward to Knack? Let us know in the comments below.
