GTA Online microtransactions for in-game cash?
I absolutely love Grand Theft Auto V--in my review, I called it one of the greatest games ever made.
Microtransactions for the upcoming online component, Grand Theft Auto Online, wouldn't change my opinion in the slightest, but here's what's happening: A Reddit user (via IGN) discovered that the Store section of Grand Theft Auto V's Pause menu requests a file from Rockstar's servers with listings of game content, including stuff from the Limited and Collector's editions that can't otherwise be acquired by regular edition buyers.
That leads one to believe this content will be made available to all users down the line, which wouldn't be unusual for a Rockstar production, but there are others listings, too: four cash cards, worth between $100,000 and $1,250,000 in-game dollars. So, more than likely, you'll be able to spend real-world money to more quickly access things like exotic cars, penthouses, and weapon mods in GTA Online.
Thoughts? Could this create an unbalanced, unfun multiplayer experience? Let us know in the comments below.----
