Ed Boon wants Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter game

The co-creator of the Mortal Kombat franchise has said that he’s still keen on pumping out a MK vs. Street Fighter title down the line.

Writing on Twitter, Ed Boon indicated that Street Fighter developer Capcom hasn’t expressed much interest in the collaboration, noting, “A LOT more has to happen other than us just ‘wanting’ to do it.”

Boon followed up his Twittering with the hashtag statement ‘HelloCapcom?’.

Developer NetherRealm has enjoyed considerable success with its last few beat-’em-up titles, which includes 2011’s Mortal Kombat reboot and 2013’s superhero mashup, Injustice: Gods Among Us.

While Capcom hasn’t embraced the idea of pitting MK and Street Fighter together, it has enjoyed a punch-up with Namco Bandai’s Tekken series with Street Fighter x Tekken, and will once again go toe-to-toe with the franchise in the in-development Tekken x Street Fighter.

Street Fighter IV meanwhile has enjoyed massive success since its console debut in early 2009, and has endured numerous re-releases including Super Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition. Next year will see yet another iteration of the critically-acclaimed brawler with the Ultra Edition.
