Diablo 3 PS4 details revealed at BlizzCon 2013

Blizzard has revealed a plethora of details regarding the PlayStation 4 version of Diablo III and its expansion, Reaper of Souls, at the first day of BlizzCon 2013.

The PS4 will run Diablo III at 1080p and 60fps according to Matthew Berger, senior level designer of the game, reports Polygon. As well as other technological improvements, Polygon also reports on unique social features, the most notable called Avenger Kills. For some players, the more important news is that characters can be transferred from the PS3 version.

An Avenger Kill involves you fighting the individual monsters responsible for slaying your friend in their game; the monster then selects someone from their victim’s friend list whose game it’ll jump into. Killing it provides a reward in the form of loot for both you and your friend. The other social feature is that players will be given a second bonus item for Legendary loot drops that can be given to a friend.

The big announcement regarding Reaper of Souls is the new ‘Adventure Mode,’ reported by IGN. It gives players an incentive to return to the game after completion, with randomised dungeons and unique quests.

It is still uncertain as to what PlayStation platforms Reaper of Souls will arrive on, and how they will do so. Whilst the U.S. PlayStation Blog confirms that Reaper of Souls will be included on the PS4 game disc, and Polygon refers to the PS4 version as Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, IGN reports that Josh Mosqueira, Game Director, says that "we’re still figuring it out" in regards to PS4 distribution. There is no news as to the PS3 version.
