Fresh on the back of the news that the PlayStation 4 sold a stunning 4.2 million units as of December 28, Sony released a batch of tantalizing figures pertaining to the biggest console launch in gaming history.

After Kaz Hirai’s keynote speech at the opening day of the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show, a press release was issued that divulges, among other things, PlayStation Plus subscriptions have shot out 90% globally since the PS4’s launch.

Atop of that, Sony has also disclosed that a staggering 9.8 million PS4 games have been sold, accompanying the stellar performance of the system's other services. The titles perched at the peak include, Electronic Art’s FIFA 2014 and Battlefield 4, Activision’s Call of Duty: Ghosts, and Ubisoft's Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

“The momentum of the PS4 system keeps getting stronger and we couldn’t be more thrilled gamers worldwide are enjoying the incredibly immersive gaming experiences along with deep social capabilities and entertainment provided by our network,” said Andrew House, President and Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment.

“After a remarkable launch, we look forward to bringing even more exciting content and continuing to explore the power of the PS4 system by adding new features and services, including PlayStation Now, in 2014.”
