The Last of Us: Left Behind DLC completed, goes "gold"

The Last of Us: Left Behind, the first single-player story DLC for Naughty Dog's apocalyptic masterpiece, is officially complete for its Valentines Day, February 14 release.

Director Bruce Straley tweeted "GOLD!" with the picture below, which shows Left Behind on The Last of Us's menu screen. When a full physical game goes gold, it is fully completed and a master disc is sent to the factory for copies to be produced. For Left Behind, a downloadable expansion, this is as close to "going gold" as it's going to get.

Left Behind serves as a prequel to the original game and stars Ellie and her older friend Riley, who appeared in the comic spinoff American Dreams. As players journey with the two girls, they will discover more about Ellie's tumultuous past and the deteriorating society of The Last of Us. The official PlayStation blogged posted both Left Behind's full opening cutscene and behind-the-scenes interview video last week.

What do you speculate happens to Ellie and Riley? Will TLOU's first DLC meet the main game's high caliber? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
