Fairy Fencer F, turn-based RPG from Final Fantasy vets, hitting PS3 this year
JRPG fans, rejoice--NIS America is bringing a turn-based experience touched by Final Fantasy veterans to PS3 in 2014.
Fairy Fencer F has been confirmed for North American and European release via retail shelves and the PlayStation Store. The game's concept art was drawn by renowned Final Fantasy artist Yoshitaka Amano, with Nobuo Uematsu orchestrating the soundtrack.
The game was released in Japan on October 13, 2013 and garnered critical praise from one Famitsu reviewer for "extremely uptempo" battles and "flashy and exciting" visuals. However, another reviewer cited an overwhelming amount of gameplay systems available from the get-go.
An NIS America press release (via Gematsu) describes a story centered on weapons created and scattered across the world in the wake of a conflict between the Goddess and the Vile God. Warriors called 'Fencers' seek these weapons, called 'Furies,' which are said to grant wishes to those who collect them. Fang, far from a warrior himself, stumbles across a Fury one day and becomes a Fencer when he pulls it from stone.
