Famitsu has claimed that PlayStation 4 sold just over 300,000 units in Japan during its first 48 hours on sale.
The console launch in the Land of the Rising Sun on February 21, and sold through 322,083 units, according to the publication.
PS4 was released in the U.S. and Europe back in November 2013, and has already gone on to sell a whopping 5.3 million consoles worldwide.
The console launched in Japan alongside the likes of Yakuza: Ishin, which has yet to see a release in western territories.
