GDC 2014: Bungie is enlisting the help of Faceware for mo-cap excellence

At GDC 2014, (Game Developers Conference) Bungie has announced via a press release that it has decided to put its game face on, and by game face I am referring to Faceware's motion capture technology.
Bungie will be using Faceware's marker-less motion capture technology in the development of the upcoming sci-fi first-person shooter, Destiny. This gives the creative team at Bungie the tools to create lifelike next-gen visuals.
The studio is no stranger to Faceware's tech, however. The technology was used during the development of Halo: Reach for the Xbox 360. Bungie’s Cinematic Supervisor David Lieber is an advocate of the Faceware tech and has gone on to say that it, '’has been used on Academy Award-winning movies and some of the highest grossing AAA video games of all time.’’
So should we be psyched because of this announcement or not? Well Lieber believes there is reason behind the technologies popularity: ‘’[Faceware's] products are production proven, easy to use, and indispensable to any team wanting to elevate the realism of their character performances without being locked into a particular capture pipeline, rig or art style.’’
Only time will tell, Lieber, only time will tell. Motion capture technology aside, there are plenty of reasons to be psyched for Destiny. In the comments below be sure to list your reason(s) for being psyched for Destiny!
