Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has revealed that a number of its first-party studios have been hit by layoffs.
As reported by VideoGamer.com, U.K.-based developers including SCE London, Evolution Studios and Guerrilla Cambridge have all been affected by the redundancies, though an exact figure remains unknown at this point.
"Regular reviews take place throughout SCE Worldwide Studios, ensuring that the resources that we have in such a competitive business can create and produce high quality, innovative and commercially viable projects," a Sony spokesperson told the site.
"As part of this process, we have reviewed and assessed all current projects and have decided to make some changes to some of our European Studios. As a result of this, there will be a focused restructure within London Studio, Guerrilla Cambridge Studio and Evolution Studio to ensure that the SCE WWS is in the best position to achieve their goals going forward.
"Our first party development studios are key to our creative strategy and we are very excited about the future projects being worked on."
The fact Evolution Studios has been hit by layoffs is particularly worrying, seeing as how the company is working on DriveClub for the PlayStation 4 -- a title recently described as having gone back to the drawing board.
Guerrilla Cambridge’s most recent project was Killzone: Mercenary for the PlayStation Vita, while SCE London is believed to be working on a new PS4 project.
