Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd for PS3 & PS Vita landing in the West this fall

Earlier today, Sega announced Hatsune Miku's encore in the West: Project DIVA F 2nd for both the PlayStation 3 and Vita will be localized for the North America and Europe and release sometime this fall.

Project DIVA F 2nd launches in Japan this Thursday and features 40 songs that include new tracks to the series and older favorites like ryo's "World is Mine." Edit mode returns, which allow players to create their own videos and game tracks.

Unlike the Western release of the first Project DIVA F, the Vita version will be available in physical copy form. "One of the primary comments we saw across the internet over the last year was that PS3 owners loved their physical copies, and that so many PS Vita owners wished one was available," wrote Aaron Webber, Sega of America Associate Brand Manager.

More news and details will be revealed later this year at E3. Sega has “fun stuff in the works” for the Western release. Perhaps it will be the physical bag pre-order bonuses Japan received?

Sega's choice to bring Project DIVA 2nd outside Japan came from the strong fan support and sales of its predecessor abroad. "It was your supportive comments, your encouraging words at every place we showed the game, and your drive that made all the difference," explained Webber. "Some of you bought the game twice – others three or even four times. But whether you picked it up once or four times, all of you helped make Miku a success, and still do. Thank you so much for that."

The Hatsune Miku Project DIVA rhythm game series began in 2009 with the first entry premiering on the PlayStation Portable. Since then, games in the franchise have landed in arcades, the Nintendo 3DS, Vita, and PS3. After positive response on social media, the Project DIVA F for the PS3 became the first to arrive in the West last August, with the Vita version following earlier this month. Miku and her friends are mascot characters of the popular Vocaloid voice synthesizer software produced by Crypton Future Media and based on Yamaha technology.

Let us know in the comments if you plan on picking up Hatsune Miku Project DIVA F 2nd this fall. With the Japanese PS3 and Vita releases pre-ordered, I'll end up quadruple dipping like a number of other fans. Look forward to my hands-on impressions soon but in the meantime, check out the Western announcement trailer below!
