Katee Sackhoff lends her voice to EVE Valkyrie
It was announced during the Valkyrie keynote at EVE Fanfest that Katee Sackhoff will be voicing Ján, the leader of the fighter pilots in EVE Valkyrie. Sackhoff’s past work includes Battlestar Galactica, Riddick and Star Wars: the Clone Wars.
“The first time I played EVE: Valkyrie I immediately knew I had to be a part of it,” said Sackhoff. “Even with the roles I have played, it is the closest I have ever felt to being a real spaceship pilot. It is a truly transformative video game experience.”
During the keynote, CCP explained the that in mythology, ‘Valkyrie’ were the maidens of the Norse god Odin that searched the battlefield for heros to bring to Valhalla, the afterlife realm of heroes. In EVE lore the pilot you play as was associated with the Guristas pirate faction of EVE Online, but broke away and took her Valkyries with her and is now part of a freelance unit.
These references perhaps give a bit of a hint as to the nature of her character. Fanfest goers have the chance to see for themselves as they don the Oculus Rift and Sony’s Project Morpheus VR headset to play the latest version of the title. The rest of us will have to wait for a release sometime in 2014.
