Watch Dogs smashes new records for Ubisoft

Ubisoft has announced that its open world hacking title, Watch Dogs, has moved more copies in 24 hours than any previous game in the French publisher’s history.

Released worldwide on May 27, Watch Dogs endured a five+ year development cycle, and even then was delayed by six months to afford additional polishing.

Exact sales figures for the new IP were not divulged, however.

Said Yves Guillemot, CEO and Co-Founder of Ubisoft: “Watch Dogs is an amazing achievement and our teams should be proud that the creativity, innovation and long hours they invested in making this game are paying off.

“It’s great to see so many players enjoying the game, and it shows that Watch Dogs has cracked the code for developing a new blockbuster IP and a thoroughly new-gen experience.”

Watch Dogs stars Aiden Pearce, an accomplished hacker who is able to exploit and disrupt numerous electronic equipment across a near-futuristic Chicago, including traffic lights, bank accounts and mobile phones.
