Crytek UK has announced that Homefront: The Revolution will launch on PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One in 2015.
The game takes place four years after America was overthrown by North Korea, and is set largely in Philadelphia, now a ghetto overseen by military grunts. Civilians now live in fear from the patrols and automated drones that prowl the streets.
However, plans for a revolution are stewing in the badlands, an area outside of the city limits, masterminded by band of guerrilla rebels. The biggest shift in gameplay this time is the fact Homefront is now an open world to explore, where your actions will affect the on-going revolution.
Players will be outclassed by the enemy in terms of weapons and equipment though, and you can expect to go toe-to-toe with Korean forces in unscripted firefights utilizing homebrew weapons.
“Homefront: The Revolution stands out from the crowd by immersing players in a world where they’ll feel emotionally compelled to fight for their freedom,” commented Crytek Game Director, Hasit Zala.
“We’re very excited to work with Deep Silver and deliver an experience that underlines Crytek’s commitment to quality whilst tapping into the huge potential we saw when we first acquired the Homefront IP.”
