Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare uses same facial capture techniques as Avatar 2

The latest issue of Edge magazine contains a feature regarding the latest entry in the behemoth franchise that is Call of Duty, confirming the FPS plucks much of its technological wizardry from Hollywood.
On their website, Edge have described some of the detail about the information on Sledgehammer Games’ first solo Call of Duty effort, Advanced Warfare, after they assisted on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 following the Infinity Ward fallout.
Edge says that “there’s the game’s new facial animation system, powered by technology and techniques that will also be used in the production of James Cameron’s Avatar 2.”
We first got a glimpse of this new technology in the reveal trailer for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, where it was confirmed that Kevin Spacey was starring in the game after much speculation. The facial technology described was used to show the detail in Spacey’s face and, well, it was him. We also saw the game’s future setting, with the action taking place in the year 2054, and some of the weapons and gadgets contained in the game.
