E3 2014: Hidetaka Miyazaki shares first horrid details of PS4-exclusive Bloodborne

Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has today published an exclusive interview with From Software’s Hidetaka Miyazaki in which he shares the first blood-curdling details of the latest PlayStation 4-exclusive, Bloodborne.

Fresh from its horrific unveiling at Sony’s E3 press conference last night, the game – which had the mysterious working title of ‘Project Beast’ – is line for a 2015 release; that may be a distance away, but it hasn’t stopped Miyazaki from divulging some tantalizing details of PS4’s latest IP. The game’s world and story have been built from the ground up, with the PS4’s capabilities in mind since the very beginning. From Software is also targeting full 1080p with a locked 30 frames per second.

Character customization will feature in a prominent way, as will intense melee and long-range weaponry – namely guns and a whole manner of other brutish instruments. Additionally, a game map display will not be present in the finished product, presumably to allow little-to-no deterrence from the immersion which is hoped will be delivered.

Miyazaki hopes that the combat will not solely focus on action but rather a more considered, strategic element instead. Online options will be present, too, with the hope that players will be able to ‘’discover’’ each other – what that means, we’re not entirely sure, but it’s certainly evident that Bloodborne has the right backing to make sure that it’ll be a resounding success once it hits sometime next year.
