According to the official Metal Gear Solid Facebook page, the army recruitment tactics from Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will return for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
In Peace Walker, Big Boss used guerilla tactics to convince the natives in South America that they were fighting for the wrong cause, and in doing so, he recruited these people to become soldiers in his military movement, Militaires Sans Frontieres. More often than not, force was required to get the would-be recruits to join up, so Big Boss had to string them up onto a Fulton Recovery System, which is a ground-to-air tactic using a parachute that a plane flying overhead could grab with a tow cable; this was also introduced in the narrative of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater near the beginning, but it wasn’t implemented into gameplay.
With such a handy technique already part of the story, Kojima Productions looks to be bringing it back for the newest installment to the Metal Gear Solid series. Take a look at the first screenshot of what to expect once The Phantom Pain hit store shelves.
This time around, Big Boss will more than likely be gathering numbers for Outer Heaven itself, but until we hear more specifics, stay tuned to PSU as more news releases from E3 2014 and beyond.
