E3 2014: The Order: 1886 stunning show floor demo confirms gamers don’t have to worry about lack of gameplay

Ready at Dawn’s highly anticipated PlayStation 4 exclusive, The Order: 1886, has been the talk of the town recently for its controversial use of quick time events, but if the developer’s E3 show floor demo is anything to go by, then it’s safe to say that skeptics can put a load of their worries to rest.

The studio’s demo presentation at Sony’s press conference has been the subject of much debate, chiefly concerning its abundant use of QTE’s and lack of conventional, user-controlled gameplay. While the demo revealed the fiction’s highly detailed Lycanthrope adversary, it also rattled community suspicions regarding the game’s lack of user-controlled gameplay because of its overly cinematic influence.

Thankfully, The Order: 1886’s E3 show floor demo does quite the opposite, finally showcasing a drawn-out look at its third-person shooter, cover-based gameplay mechanics. The demo - which is an extended look at Ready at Dawn’s Twitch showing from a few weeks ago – shows the explosive thermite rifle in action, in addition to the bullet time feature initiated by the fiction’s use of Black Water.

Moreover, studio founder Andrea Pessino responded to skeptics that were on the fence about the game’s missing element of challenging gameplay, reassuring that the studio will be focusing its upcoming demonstrations on core gameplay all in the coming months.

The Order: 1886 is scheduled to release February 20, 2015, exclusively on PS4. While the delay brought much disappointment to the PlayStation community, it will give the talented team at Ready at Dawn a chance to iron out all the kinks.
