Supporters of Ridley Scott’s sci-fi horror brainchild, Alien, can carry their concerns to the grave because unlike the infamous Aliens: Colonial Marines, Creative Assembly’s Alien: Isolation brings the suspenseful lo-fi classic to fruition as demonstrated by its official E3 trailer below.

Games tied to the Alien franchise have been leaving a sour taste in people’s mouths as of late, but Alien: Isolation looks to remedy that by reaching out to the original fiction’s roots, focusing heavily on suspenseful, fear-driven gameplay.

At E3 this week, developer Creative Assembly is taking an opportunity to take people’s breath away, literally, because by the time gamers finish up with their hands-on playthroughs, there’s not much oxygen left in the room. The show floor demo not only showcases how true Alien: Isolation is to its source material, but also demonstrates how imperative survival horror is to the game’s central theme and core gameplay mechanics.

Not convinced? Check out the gameplay walkthrough below and judge for yourself.

Mark your calendars for a vacation to the Sevastopol Station because Alien: Isolation is scheduled to release October 7, 2014, for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
