Payday 2 – the cooperative first-person shooter from developers Overkill Software which is currently free on PlayStation Plus – has been announced for release on PlayStation 4.

The news comes in the thick of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) where the world’s gaming public have descended upon to bask in the various tantalizing reveals and trailers for the latest and best games.

Speaking on the game’s official Twitter, it was confirmed that the previously hinted at next-generation version of the heist smash hit was indeed in existence, with the game now undoubtedly scheduled for both PS4 and Xbox One in the near future.

No release date or news of improvements has been forthcoming just yet, but we’ve been promised that a full reveal of the game’s next-generation debut is imminent.
