E3 2014 Awards: Best RPG

Though it may have been pushed back into early 2015, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt has lost none of its appeal here at PSU Towers. We’ve always been a big fan of the upcoming fantasy RPG ever since we saw it in action last year — and 12 months later, it’s blown us away yet again. Geralt of Rivia’s latest monster-slaying, quest-heavy adventure has impressed RPG fanatics with its promise of a massive open world ripe for the picking; the fact it’s 20 percent larger than The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim already has us salivating like a rabid dog.

Visually, The Witcher III looks scrumptious and will no doubt be among the most graphically-impressive games to grace the PlayStation 4 next year. However, it’s the sheer amount of content packed into the game that really sets it apart from its contemporaries: expect to put over 100 hours into this beauty and still have room to explore. Add in a dynamic day/night system, brutal AI, and a diverse cast of characters powering a multi-layered narrative, and you have one of the most important RPG releases of the past few years.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is scheduled to ship for PS4, PC, and Xbox One on February 24, 2015.
